just got finished throwing the rear axle on, which now houses 4.11 gears. i had to drive my cousin to gainesville, too much traffic to get on it then, and its been raining ever since i got here so i haven't been able to get on it yet... but even with lower throttle inputs it still has a noticable increase in pull... can't wait to hit up the track and tell you guys about the new times. so bye 3.42's!!! KC yelled at me sayin i needed more than 3.73 and i gave into the cute little elf LOL

Correct me if I'm wrong but, don't you have to break in new gears for atleast 500 miles? Be careful man. Like I said, don't quote me, might want to check into that.

There is a procedure that last all of maybe 60 minutes to breaking in gears but some recommend going easy on them for the first 500 miles. The other way just involves heating up the rear for ten minutes, then cooling it down for 25 minutes, then heating it up for 30 minutes and then leaving it overnight.

Ah yes, I've heard of that aswell. Personally, I would feel safer to do the 500 breakin first.

on a more serious note, you heat them up by driving.

With 4.11's wouldnt the gas mileage suck......I think 3.73 would be better

They help off line like a mofo. Even 305 can get the a really good jump with some 4.11. One thing though, don't try to race from 65mph roll. It's not pretty at all (not you Dave, talking about 305 here).

With most 5.0 Mustangs the difference between 3.73's & 4.10's with 5spd. at 65mph is about 200-300rpm. So not much difference in mpg for the quicker launch of the 4.10's. If you don't drive it in the winter I would go with the 4.11's., but 3.73's are an all around (best of both worlds) good gear.

i wouldn't have gone any deeper than 3.73 if i had an automatic... but with the 6-speed it works fine... my gas mileage doesn't seem to have been affected very much... i make a long road trip here in a little while so then i'll really know

cool, i have been thinking about getting 3.73 or 4.11 when i finally get off my ass and buy an lt1, i have pretty much all the spohn stuff i wanted besides the torque arm, just bough the lower control arms after christmas they should be here on the 5th according to the tracking number. doesnt really matter though the camaro is up for the winter :(. starting to think you were right about how long it would take to complete the swap, i was thinking it would be done by the middle of next summer, but all the little shit i need is starting to add up.
drvngstorm05

next will prolly be a 54mm throttle body... i'm gonna have to wait on wheels, not enough money for wheels and tires, i think i'll have a new pair of shoes this coming summer sometime... subframe connectors are also on the "hopefully soon" list
kpot, i told you lol. it seems like it can be done quickly when you think about it, but once you get into it it's alot more tedious than you would think...

HELL, with the 6spd. don't even worry about it. I thought you had a 5spd. Even then, not too bad, but with the 6spd. you probably won't notice at all.

well it definately is noticable, in how hard it pulls, plus i'm shifting gears over 10mph earlier than i used to... but 4.11's with an auto would be stupid in my eyes... way too deep

No, I meant you probably won't notice that much in MPG...atleast on the highway anyway.
