85 monte carlo ss

my son went to start his car and all it does is click.it doesn'tturn over or anything.any ideas?

try charging battery, or new battery

If that doesn't work then make sure the connections at the battery are clean, ( no corrosion), and check the battery cables for signs of corrosion, breakage in the outer covering, or wire inside, make sure they are in good condition and that the connections are tight. My father-in-law's '95 Chevy truck did the same thing awhile back, and after I checked over everything, I found the cable to the starter was loose. After tightening it, the vehicle started and ran fine.
