So how does a failing ignition module affect my car? I have an ’86 SE which has been suffering an intermittent starting failure. Last night it stalled out as I was pulling into the parking lot for work.
After looking into what was wrong I discovered that I had no spark. I towed the car home today, trying to start it prior to loading it up, and again once I was home, both on the trailer and off of the trailer (about a dozen times all together) and she would not start.
I push the car over into the side yard, and try once more when there. It started no problem. Man I hate this car.. but I love it too..
When it died on me last night I was in the power band, she was working great, and then just stalled out. No noise, no indication of trouble, it just cut out. I know it is not s fuel problem, as I could smell gas once I got the car parked.

could be the module, but it sounds like a bad ground on the engine. Simple fix and cheep just take a 12 gauge or larger wire and ground on block and firewall. Its cheeper than the module and if it isn't the problem I would say its the module.
