I'm not sure where i should be posting this but the more i ask the more i'll know, maybe. I'm thinking about putting a Mustang 4.6 DOHC(new with six speed and axle from frp into a (wait for it) 1986 Ford Capri 2 door fastback. :screwy:

Well, I want to convert it to irs along the way. What parts will work with the Mustang axle assembly?

another question - Are Torsen diffs any good(ie better than clutch type lsd) in a rwd.
I know my username would suggest i know all about them but ive only had them in an audi s4 quattro, which went to the recycling plant following a recent misadventure.

By the way happy xmas/new year an all that stuff.

An IRS in a Capri can be done but its a lot of work. I would contact this place. They have installed a 99+ IRS in to a SVO so they may be able to tell you what all will be required.

Theoretically it should be fairly simple on the IRS, since they designed it around the same mounting points on the same chassis.... However I believe they re-arranged the setup just slightly for a wider rear width in '99, so you may run into some troubles there....

If you do a websearch there is someone's personal site who did this nad has a good step by step with pictures. It's actually quite easy and only a few tricky points cause they are sitting on the same basic chassis/mounting points. Also remeber your gonna need a new cat-back to clear the IRS.
