I have an almost new 14b and I eventually well soon would like to upgrade and I was wondering if it was possible to turn a 14b into a 16g or 18g? And if it is would it be economical? And how much do would it cost?

i would recomend you just buy the 16g because the exhaust housing is different on the 14b its a 6cm and the 16g is a 7cm

Well my understanding(not necissiarly correct) is that the only thing that is different between the 14b and the 16g,18g, is the exhaust housings and I heard that you can buy a new housing and replace the existing one therefore turning a 14b into a 16g. Is that correct?

yes you can, but considering the cost involved, it's usually just better to buy a new 16g, especially how cheap they are.

what kind of cost are we talking here? I know nes 16gs are going on sbr right now for $500 and I do have a .60 trim and external gate laying around that I could use but I was thinking about selling it and buying fuel mods and such and see how fast I can go with the 14b and then upgrade the turbo from there.

Don't even bother with the 18g. I would say why not .50 trim it? The difference between an evo III and a .50 trim isn't that great(money wise)...Trust me you'll still feel a nice difference between a 14b and a 16g or +

THe difference between those turbos is the compresor wheel. They all use the same TDO5H turbine wheel, and the housings are interchangeable but slightly different (6cm on the 14b and 7cm on the 16/18g). You can get the comp wheel swapped to a bigger one, but then you have to have the whole thing basically rebuilt while you are in there (300) plus have the compressor housing recut to fit the new wheel (150?), all on top of the cost of the wheel itself. Not very economical when you look at the price of the 16gs. Even the EVO3 is cheap now. I will second the suggestion to skip the 18g, it's not going to do any better than an EVO 16g, and it's hardly anybetter than a regular 16g. The next size up is 20g or 50 trim.

Well like I said I do have a .60 trim sitting here that I could use but I was hoping that I could sell that and just get a different housing for my 14b to upgrade that but if it would be better to just ditch the 14b then I'll just use the .60 trim(after supporting mods of course)
