2000 chevy silverado- Ex-girlfriend has a set of keys and the keyless remote for my truck. She has already taken my truck and hid it from me once. I would like to know how I can change locks or keyless or both. Happy New Gear! :uhoh:

I haven't tried this yet but here a two threads about recoding your key fob(s). As far as changing your keys, I think you will need two new lock cylinders w/keys. Maybe (?) a locksmith could re-key the original cylinders ???

To rekey the doors also means rekeying the column.
Getting to the door cylinders is as easy as taking the inner panels off and then removing the handles from the inside. Don't know how to get the column cylinder out.
Jilted Lover???? :screwy: What will she do when she can't take it???? :cya: I would park in a garage and talk to security at work if you have those options.......
Just my :2cents: Good Luck!

I just bought a new key fob on ebay for my '02.
Reprogramming remotes is/are easy; and when done renders all non-reprogrammed remotes useless. If I can find my instructions; I'll post them.
As for the keys; you have 2 options; 1 is just re-key the doors and use the old key for ignition; cheap and easy way to lock the ex out (I did this last month) but you have to use a diff key for ignition vs doors. Of course this won't matter if you use the keyless...
the other is to get al 3 locks rekeyed; more expensive; but only 1 key when done.
Good luck;

go buy a aftermarket alarm with starter disable and then if she gets in the alarm will go off and the truck will not start, and the siren should draw some attention. you could probable get one installed at a shop for 200 to 300.

Tell her to return the key/remote. If she takes it again, report it stolen. That'll be the last time she does that; especially if you tell her that's what'll happen. I also hope you have Onstar (they are so good, they can almost give the address of the house it's parked in front of). In the mean time, for a $25.00 filing fee, you can get a court order having her return your key/remote.
Funny thing is giving a house key to a girl friend is one thing, but to my truck...NO WAY JOSE!!! Glad I'm married to a good womean. Good Luck!!!
