Below are two photgraphs of items I cannot seem to find in the
Chilton Manual.
This thing is on the firewall and I am guessing those are fuel lines
going to and from it. Is that an adjustment screw(spring) on it?
Does it fail and/or need servicing?

The thing below is deep in the engine and I'm clueless as to what it is.

Same question - do they fail - can I fix them, etc.?
What is that plug going to to the left of it?

the first one with the big screw is the idle speed control, usually found on automatics and ones with AC. supposed to raise idle up when you put it in gear or turn AC on. second one is the EGR valve, found on mid 91 and newer metros

Thanks for the information! I just labeled the photos appropriately.
Do you know what that plug to the left of the EGR is going into?

if your talking about the wire plug with the green and white wires, that goes to the solenoid that turns the egr valve on and off

if your talking about the wire plug with the green and white wires,
that goes to the solenoid that turns the egr valve on and off
Wonderful. I will update my photo.
If you are still game....
What is?
A -
Goes into the Coolant System - two wires (for the Temp Gauge)?
B -
Goes into the Coolant System - One white wire ???
C - This is the EGR Solenoid plug as you said above....
D -
Goes into the TBI lower half

Also - is the "Fuel Pump Resistor" the finned thing at the top right
side of the engine compartment mounted to the firewall and about the
size of a pack of cigarettes?
When I have all this stuff identified, I will post the pictures on this
forum for other novices like me!
