96 TA will not crank

Hi,

I have a 96 Trans Am with a manual transmission that will not turn over. The battery is charged and I have verified the clutch switch is working. When I turn the key to start, the starter enable circuit (heavy yellow wire under the dash) gets power. (This is connected to a starter kill system that was installed years ago and also is working correctly.) However, the starter solenoid does not get any power. I have checked the fuses under the hood and in the driver side panel. They are all ok. I do not have a wiring diagram. Can someone please tell me what else to look for?

Thanks

So, you have checked at the starter and when cranking it has no power? Because it sounds like the starter thus far. I would have the starter tested just to make sure as they aren't cheap to just replace anymore. If it isn't the starter, there could be an issue in the ignition switch/key recognition circuit.

Guy's,

Take a set of jumper cables and hook 1 (one Cable) to the starter silinod hot lead. MAKE SURE the car is in park or nutruel with parking brake on and touch the other end of the One cable to the positive of the battery.

Doesn't turn over = bad starter
Turns over but doesn't start = Ignition problems
Turns over & Starts = Chances are your key switch

Make SURE The key in ignition is in the on position.
