OK, here is the deal, its a work truck, and it just died today, i know it sucks with it being new years, and everything being closed tommorow, but i need it on tuesday. Here is the info on the truck. 2000 4.8 Auto with 190KM.
Two weeks ago it would not start with the key. I gave up, came back to it after 5 mins, it would fire right up. Never had a problem with it before.
All the lights come on just fine, no codes etc...Simply nothing happenes when i turn the key, it does not click, it doesn grind, nothing, Power is there since everything runs, wipers radio etc... brand new battery. I have a New starter already. I checked all the fuses too, relay clicks when i turn the key. How do i check if it the starter? what to do?
I dont want to open up the new starter and find out it was something else-not the starter. Please help.
What i was thinking of doing was, to disconnect the old starter, hookup a 12bulb to the wiring or a multimeter and have someone turn the key and see if it gives any juice, please correct me if im wrong.

First thing to check is it getting 12 volt power to the small terminal on the starter when ign is in start position? Usually a purple wire.
If so your starter or solenoid or battery cable is bad.
If not work your way back to the ign switch.

I went to the place they install remote starters today, the guys took apart my dash, and checked the ignition and starter wiring going all the way from ignition, they had a meter hooked up to few wires, and as soon as i was turning the key into the "start" position the light/signal was coming on.

yup-sounds like a relay (which you say you've checked but they can be intermittently faulty) or a bad ignition switch. Starter solenoids can cause this too.........follow instructions posted above.

But was it getting to the starter solenoid?
That is the main thing to check and then go from there.

You will find it on the starter.
The starter is on one end of the big positive battery cable and the battery is on the other end.
Good luck.
