ok...i know ive posted around here this problem before but now i have some test results. heres a quick rundown of my problem
95 astro(90k) bogs down on acceleration and has a lack of power...no engine codes..i did complete tuneup and replaced ignition coil and module and fuel filter also cleaned the egr valve to no repair.
i just tested the fuel pressure
52-54 psi at idle
54 psi not running with key on
and a max of 60 psi running with it in drive while reving it
im told the key on psi should be at 58-61 psi
does anyone else think its my fuel pump?
i just want a few experienced opinions before i drop the gas tank and change the pump.
also...
i only have a small amount of fuel in the tank...should i just let it run out? this way i wouldnt have to drain the tank? any hints or suggestions about changing the pump?
thanks for all the advice in advance!!

its a little low at idle and koeo, but the stall test is in specs. any eng. noise? wondering if the knock sensor is backing off the timing?you can check it with scan tool or timing light at stall.does it fall on its face during the stall test?

wouldnt the knock sensor set off a code and the check engine light? im getting no codes. the motor sounds normal (no knocking...etc) how do i perform the stall test? (i really want to avoid changing the pump at all costs)ive heard the pumps on 95s are known to die and need to run at about 61 psi at all times to run steady...thats what makes me think its the pump. and with my readings not being extremely low..i figure this is why im not getting any codes yet. does that sound right to anyone else? i will definately check the timing next. if the knock sensors are cheap enough ill even throw one on for good measure.

Don't fill up the tank if you think you will have to drop it! My 1995 van didn't start after a fill up, and I discovered it was the fuel pump. I had a heck of a time getting the tank out. I could't stick a hose in it, it has some kind of anti-thef deal in the neck of the fuel tank. The fuel injectors don't operate under a certain pressure (54 PSI?). Sounds like your pump is going bad. I don't know why your pressure is higher when reving engine, it should't make any difference. Make sure you are putting in a high pressure fuel pump if you replace it. The guy at the parts store gave me a low pressure pump, and I wound up dropping the tank twice!
