Hi everyone, I was sideswiped before Thanksgiving and the only damage was the driver's side mirror. I need a place where I can get it already black and preferebly as one unit so that I do not have to put each individual piece together.

I had a similar problemt fall (hockey net) I bought a used mirror assembly from an auto wrecker. The plastic housing is removable and can be reused, takes some gentle persuasion and a lot of patience. That way you don't need to have it repainted. To remove the mirror you will need a torx wrench or socket. The Chilton's repair manual shows how to remove the mirror, quite easy actually, the book is worth the $10-$15. On the inside of the door there is a black triangular shaped trim peice where the tweeter is. Pry that off pulling straight towards you disconnect the wire to the tweeter, remove the insulation and you will see the torx screw loosen in while holding the mirror and it will come off. You may have to remove the door panel to disconnect the power mirror wire. Buy the book explains in detail.

1-800-VW-PARTS is a salvage yard. Not only will you probably be able to find a black one, you'll be able to find one that was painted the same time. On top of that it's all one piece and cheap. Good luck
