$4,995 i already called them and it's real, not a scam. 97 GST, 115k, 5 speed. the guy that i talked to said it's in immaculate condition inside and out. he said it has a newer "high performance" clutch and the motor runs strong. black w/ tan cloth interior. the exterior is a strawberry color, kinda cool looking actually. it's 7 hours away from me and he said he's holding it for me until monday. this morning i'm going to take a trip there with cash in hand and hopefully it's not beat to hell. i'm even bringing a jack so i can see the bottom of the motor. i'm going to check for any rust, dents, scratches, etc. i'll take it for a good test drive and see how she acts. i'm really not TOO concerned about the motor/tranny, but IF i do buy it, i want it to last me on the way home. i can always swap out the motor that's in my spyder, even the tranny. Anyway what do you guys think? I've been looking for a hardtop GST/GSX for quite some time now. I actually prefer the GST over GSX for a couple reasons...1. the GSX weighs just as much as my spyder. .2. All GSX's i've drove seem a little more sluggish than my spyder or hardtop GST. 3. Little better on gas.

I just don't want to get screwed on this. I have to be awake here in a few hours. I have a long drive ahead of me...

Does this mean you are looking to replace your current car or just in addition?

P.S. Car looks gorgeous

Wooooo, same color as mine! I love the color. During the day in the sun, it looks dark red, and copper in direct sunlight. At night, it's kinda like a dark red candyish lol. Good luck with it man, seems like a good deal.

Looks like a really sweet deal. Take it for a drive and make sure you try every gear to see if the trannys been beat or not. Test out anything that you would use on a daily basis to ensure that it all works properly. Good luck with it. I hope you get it, its a really sharp lookin car!

It looks okay. The price seems right on par too. You need to drive it though to see if has any "strange" sounds. (besides your good old regular DSM creaks, groans and rattles, ofcourse).

The GSX may seem a little sluggish during normal driving, but it would handle a dumped clutch at 5-6K RPM better than any GS-T can. Plus, as you go up the upgrade path, and start putting some serious power to the crank, the AWD really starts to make sense then. I dunno, to each their own! Damn this holiday wine is great!

well i ended up buying it...took me 8 hours to get there, and when i finally got there it was in 100% PERFECT condition. took it for a test drive and it ran strong as all hell. everything worked electrically. moonroof, locks, windows, interior/exterior lights, alarm, etc. it has brand new snow tires and wipers. the guy even filled the tank up for me with 92 i think he said. i just put my short throw in it because the stock shifter/bushings were killin me. drives great. the only thing i could tell that was wrong with it was the rear driver side srut. every bump i hit it makes a little clunk sound. but for the motor, no signs of CW or major abuse. i have some pics of it but i need to recharge my camera to post them. overall i'd say it was well worth the $4,995.

all i got to say is ive known steve for a while and this car he picked up was one hell of a buy. i hung out with him last night for a while and the pictures dont do it justice for sure. the thing is absolutely beautiful outside and in. the exterior has no dents and barely any scratches that couldnt be buffed out and the interior looks like its brand new. he took me for a little drive in it and the thing runs like it brand new. i drove his spyder and this thing feels a hundred times more solid. and knowing him it will be well taking care of and made to be real fast.

I was thinking of buying a GST that was for sale in my city, but I am tired of FWD. I decided i wanted to go with the AWD because I intend to keep the car and mod it a little. But if this car was for sale where i live, I think it would be in my garage :).
Also cars here are more expensive due to the fact that it doesnt rain and they have no rust at all.
I should probably be boosting by the end of January since I just got my money from the accident. Also, I know that its kinda an akward question but what do you guys think about Saturn ? I need another car for work ( delivery ). I should probably go ask in the Saturn forums hehe.

Good buy 97GSTspyder, and for cheap. Get more pictures if you can :). What are you gonna do with the Spyder though ? Sell it ?

Thanks for all of the replies. As for the spyder, i'm keeping the motor, turbo, tranny, clutch, gauges, stereo, speakers, bov, boost controller, and the body can either sit in my yard and rot or someone can make me an offer. I never had a chance to get it repainted (definately needs paint and some minor body work) and i have a brand new black top for it but never put it on. So whoever buys it from me will get the top with it (still has the tan one on now). But i'm gonna go out and start yanking the shit out of the spyder. I'll get some more pics asap.

Man, how come everybodys shifters in their 2g's seem so much shorter than mine? I have a B&M short throw in mine and it still is like 6"s tall. Yeah the throw is shorter, but its still so tall! My friend just recently bought a 2g and his shifter is sticking out of the boot just enough to grab it and its all stock. Is mine messed up or something?
