I have searched for ideas on rebulid kits, but have came up empty. Do any of you have ideas or advice on these kits? Inculding the best kits, ones I should stay away from, best performance and so on. There is a shop in town that I plan on stopping by Tuesday, but I don't know if they will sell me a rebuild kit over the counter. I don't want to put a lot of money into this, but my friend gifted me the truck so I didn't have any money in it upfront. But it has cost me a small fortune since then. I figure I could get a decent rebuild kit for under a grand. I would like to do this right maybe high performance parts and try to gain a little more power. At any rate any advice would be helpful. Thank you all.

Check out PAW.

I wouldn't use them for a performance re-build, but they should have a kit for your re-build

I'd leet your local shop handle you parts selection. It might cost a little more(10% or so) however they'll be able to help with other things like cam bearings, core plugs, pressing pistons on the rods etc, etc. And you'll be helping your comunity.(he cant pay his employees peanuts lol)
Good luck with your build
