transmission cooler installation

Hi,
I have a 1985 GMC 1/2 ton van that needs a transmission cooler.
The problem is which cooler kit to buy. I've read that plastic ties aren't the best way to attach the cooler to the a/c cooler and radiator. I don't plan on doing any towing.
Is there a cooler kit that has mounting straps or brackets that will work with my vehicle?
Any other advice is appreciated.
( I can't download coolerman's thread on transmission cooler installation)

Hi!
Welcome to AF!
To try to answer your question....
I doubt that you will be able to find a kit for your van. Im not saying its impossible, but it is highly unlikely.

This is true. They arent the best way to secure the cooler, but it should work ok as long as you use heavy duty ties, and secure them well. Your best bet, IMO, would be to custom your own brackets. It wouldnt be very hard, and it would be superior to using ties. Some scraps of metal, a drill, fasteners, something to bend with (vice, pliers, etc) and you are in business. Better yet, if you have access to a welder, you could make some brackets in about 10min.
Let us know what you decide to do. Hope to see ya around the forums. :)
