2001 Chevy Blazer 4x4, V6. I did an auto scan and the problem code came up P0410 which is the secondary air injection system malfuction.
I was wondering if this was the relay that is the problem and if any one knew the location of this relay, if this is the problem. If this isn't the problem, then what would it be?

Could be a problem with water in the air pump or a bad air pump. See the attached TSB.

BTW, if water froze in it, theres a good chance the air pump is still good. The TSB says to replace it but thats not always needed.
Just take the air pump out, drain the water and dry out the inside of the pump with a hairdrier or something. Squish the water out of the foam filter in it too.
Then hook the air pump back up and replace the fuse (30A I think). The fuse is right beside your battery.
One other thing, the air pump isn't super critical. Your Blazer pollutes more than normal without it, but I think thats it. So you can still drive it if you can't work on it immediately.

Thanks, I will check out and remove the air pump and see if that is it.

What I'm posting can be found in various other posts.
If you need a new motor, you can do what I did and get it off e-bay for about $50 (vs $125-$150 dealer)
To replace motor, first disconnect the battery. You'll be working near the Airbag sensors.
Remove plastic brush plate under engine (6 or 9 bolts).
Unplug electircal connection to the pump, disconnect the hoses and the two bolts on the bracket attaching the assembly to the frame.
Swap out the motor on the bracket and replace in reverse.
Because of the crimp-type clamps used to attach the hoses to the original motor, you may need to buy some of those adjustable metal clamps, like you'd see on a radiator hose.
Remove the battery and change the 30a fuse against the fender.
Replace battery. You may want to turn on the electrical to make sure it works.
You may also want to consider replacing and rerouting the tubing so water doesn't get in the system again. GM has a TSB and part numbers on-line at this link:

check the air pump fuse, should be a big green 30 amp, if its blown *look real close, i had to look twice at the last one, had a 31 amp draw, just enough to break the fuse, but not totally melt it for a clear visible gap* if the fuse is blown, replace it and turn the key on engin off, check the fuse again, if it shorts out with key on, its a dead short, if it blow with engin on its most likly a high draw on the system...

I'm getting a code PO418 which is the relay. I believe the relay is located next to the fuses (which are next to the battery). My fuses are both good (checked them with meter), I swapped the relay. I then cleared the code. It came back on after about 2 minutes. I have a 01 4 x 4 with the 4.3. I am thinking it might be the pump just not engaging. Any suggestions? Thanks

1 start your own thread
2 a code for an item means a fault in that items system, a wire could be not connecting somwhere

You are having the same problem I had long time ago.
Here is the way I solved problem.
1. check fuse first, it is seen after you remove battery box.
It worked several times.
2. I got same code, but, fuse didn't go off.
I replaced relay($30), it didn't work.
I replaced air pump($40, I got this one in ebay, it was used one). it didn't work.
I replaced vacuum solenoid valve($30), It worked.
3. after you fix that thing, that will happen again and again eventually.
water will get in air intake hose in rainy day and blow the fuse or system again.
so, You have to reroute air intake hose. that is located at fan.
Buy couplings and hose at walmart or autozon and reroute that hose to rear engine room. then, it will not happen again.
Good luck.

1. I did try to start a new treead - no response
2. I posted here because it was a related problem & the question was asked about the relay.
3. Thanks for the info that was provided - I'll check out the wiring & reroute the intake hose--thanks again

Also, there are 2 check valves , 1 on each side of the exhaust manifolds that often are rusted internally. These allow the air to be fed into the exhaust for the 1 minute after you start the engine then are spring loaded to shut. They can allow moisture to backfeed into the pump so if you keep having codes replace these. Under $15 each and easy if you simply unbolt the metal pipe at the manifold and replace in a vise due to rusting and no leverage when on the blazer.
