I would recomend any mustang GT. The fox bodied ones that are decent are the 1990-93 Or the 94/95 with the redone body style. All these, especialy the fox bodies are cheap, they all have the 5.0 v8. This means parts are also cheap and plentifull. There is probably not another car with the aftermarket support of the 5.0 mustang. I think the cars look pretty darn good to. If your going to mod a car, you might as well start with one thats already fast stock.

you need to be way more specific. What was listed above, are nasty in my opinion. :D Why not get a G20? They are good looking, respond well to mods, and awsome to drive.

Well, stock, the Fiero is not a fast car at all. A lot of them look fugly though there are some that look good. I have seen them with the Ferarri, Lambo, and Viper body kits and they would have looked better if they had just been left alone. I have seen some with very good looking body kits, so you can make them look pretty damn good, you would still want to do an engine swap for some power.

Nissan
If you were looking at the firebird was it a V8?
The TT Z is Twin turbo V6 300hp stock
with about $2000 invested exhaust
intake
JWT (jim wolf technologies)chip
UnorthodoxRacing pulley set
you will be throwing down 415hp! Beastly!

That looks like a beautiful car. In my opinion if you like it get it. I would get someting a little more cheap, and add mods. But, like i said it's your preference.
Good Luck

300zx is a damn good, fast car. The T-bird is a pure ground pounding machine. The biggest difference between the two 300zx-import T/A-domestic. Neather has to be moded to be fast, but eather can be to produce more power. Also both have great styling. Mustangs are always an awesome choice, but if you dont like them dont go for them. The chevy 350 (5.7) is like the ford 5.0, it has many cheep parts which are easy to bolt on.

$25k seems high for your, 'not to pricy' request.

If you have up to 25K to put in a car I would go with a clean Supra TT. I have seen them in the low to mid 20s. I am a Nissan/Datsun man but I would go with the Supra over the 300 any day. The 300TT has some real reliability problems. I almost bought one a few years back and did a lot of research. The Supra however is bulletproof! Also, I think you will find it is cheaper to mod. If you want American muscle, I would probably stay away from the F bodies (camaro, firebird) unless you are planning on keeping it forever. They really dont hold thier value very well. I would probably go with a mustang. They have a cheaper aftermarket and a much better resale. You will have to mod them a little more than the F bodies to get the same straight line performance though. Another less expensive car to consider would be the Toyota MR2 91 - 95. You can pick a really nice one up for around 7K. They still look so sweet and respond to modding VERY well. Only thing about them is they can be very tricky to drive for a beginner.
Hope this helps.

The Supra is an awesome car, but they dont make them anymore, so it will take more to find parts than most cars, despite whats being said. MR2 is a decent car. Personally I would go with the 300zx or firebird still. An eclipse is also a good car, you could get an early 90's econo box version and parts are cheep and pleantyfull. A good point is to get a car for under 10, so the other can be used to fix any problems, and mod it.

I beg to differ. All the Japanese twin-turbo's in America have been discontinued, that doesn't mean parts are hard to find. And in all actuality, the 2JZGT engine in the 93-98 Supra TT is the best Japanese engine to work with, on stock internals you can run 800 hp daily driven. And by just replacing the computer and getting a turbo timer you can have 340 RWHP.
But you just said you wanted something peppy, that can be quick. This is hard to make a choice from. I mean if you want a supercar that's going to cost a lot with insurance and maintenance, yeah get a Supra TT or a Trans Am. But you said nothing overpriced... It's easy to get your hands on a supercar, but no one said insurance was easy to get by on. I have no tickets, but I'm barely going to turn 19, I wanted to get a Trans Am, they told me even if I was a secondary driver and the car was on my mom's CLEAN record... I would have to pay another $250.00 a month just for my coverage on the Trans Am.
If you're going sub 20k range... I would say go with a hybrid Honda, maybe a 94 hatchback with a b-series engine under the hood. Insurance rates won't be too high and there's more aftermarket support for a B16A then there's soda machines at malls.
If you are willing to go above 20k... Why not get a used DSM (Eclipse GSX/Talon AWD Turbo) for about 11k, and put 6k into it?
If you just want to buy something with that money stock, and wait a while to upgrade, I would suggest getting the TT Supra... It's a really good stock platform. Hell a fun to drive.

Parts for the delorian are pleantyfull too in the sence that they are expensive as hell. I didnt get a supra because of the prices to buy parts. And Your getting your ass riped off for insurance too, I -had- a 79 trans am. I was the second driver, cost- 80 a month. This is full coverage as well. Now for my own car with one accident (the death of the trans am) I pay 151 a month. Because I am under 25, 1 accident, not currently in school, coupe, v-8 and its a newer car. A Trans Am should be about the same or less if you have a perfect record and if you are in school. But where me and S2Corolla do agree is on the Eclipse/Talon. Exelent car, good parts. Easy on the insurance too. And they discontinued the turbos, but thats not what I said, I said they stoped making the car. Thus parts are no longer in mass production from the factory, only independent companys which means a high markup. Engine parts may not be the hardest to find, but what of stock replacement parts?

Well with the money he's planning on spending it wouldn't be hard for him to find an unmodified, non-salvaged TT Supra, but yes you're right, aftermarket parts are expensive for the Supra, but they are just as expensive for a Trans Am or a 300ZX. Turbo is expensive, and when you have a high powered twin-turbo engine and you want to UPGRADE it, then yes it will be a high-priced project.
That's why an Eclipse GSX or a Talon AWD Turbo would be a good platform to work with, it has good handling, good stock power and big room for upgrade. I believe it comes stock with a T28. Upgrade that to a T3/T4 turbo with a larger intercooler, turbo timer and upgraded internals, with good tires you'll find yourself in 11's very quickly.
Regardless of what you get, drive safely and don't put any Type R stickers on your car, and you'll be a good influence in the automotive enthusiast community. DO NOT LET YOUR G/F DRIVE YOUR CAR!!! :D J/K

-Mods are easily available for Supra, Eclipse, Integra, Mustang, Civic.
-"Pricey" is a relative term. If you're willing to spend $20, then you can have any car U want (Supra, Eclipse, Integra, Mustang, Civic)!!!
That Firebird U showed was overpriced, and there is more of a chance that the previous owner beat the crap out of it!
