When i was changing my PVC it was so stuck that i pulled the grommet out too. When the grommet came out, i could tell something broke off from the bottom of the grommet. So i ordered a new grommet and it came today, and i can tell a small piece from the grommet did indeed break off and it probably fell into the engine crankcase or wherever. So here is my question, am i screwed? It's pretty small, maybe 2mm-3mm or so. My guess is, since it is rubber, will it just burn off in the oil, or maybe get caught by the filter? I hope it wont do any damage to my engine. I know i cant do anything about it now, so i will just hope for the best.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of days ago except that the small piece hung on and popped out dangling by a thread... phew....
It's a very small lip and doesn't look large or hard enough to interfere with anything.
How much did they charge you for the new grommet? Did you have to order the new valve with it?

I doubt that it will get washed down into the crankcase and even if it does, the oil pick-up screen will keep it out of the system. I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen tiny pieces of valve stem seals sitting under a valve cover for who knows how long.

it shouldn't cause a problem....
if you only new what has hanging out in the bottom of an oil pan...you'd pass out.

the new grommet cost around 3 buck and no, you do not need to order it with a new valve. I order mine at www.overnightautoparts.com. My order was over 50 dollar so i had free shipping.
