Hey you guys,
I just got a hold of a 1973 Camaro. it has no motor or transmission in it so that gives me a chance put in what ever i want. I want to put in a 396 but i cant seem to find one around me, although i can get a hold of a shit load of 350s. my question to you guys is is there a way that i can make a 350 into a 396? im really sorry if this is a noob question but it is the only way i will find out so please dont flame me!!
thanks- all replies will be apreciated.

I've never heard of a 396, maybe a 383 a lot of guys around here have talked about that, do a search for it and you'll find some stuff about it.

a 396 is just a destroked 454 bigblock
now if you got the money you could buy a bill mitchell
454 cubic inch small block, avery nasty little engine!!
hope this helps

But why would you want to destroke a 454?

Revs quicker with a shorter stroke. It's not so much that it's a destroked 454, it's more that a 454 is a stroked 396.

If you got the money go for the 396,but big block parts cost alot more than small block parts. To save a little $$ i would build a 383 they make a ton of power.
