Problem removing alternator

I have a 1990 integra GS, and I have removed the mounting bolts and belt as well as the electrical connection, but I am having difficulty removing the alternator from the engine compartment. Any tips on where this is supposed to come out at as well as tricks to get it out of there would be very helpful. I have already also removed the mounting bracket for the alternator, as well as the tire on the drivers side trying to get it out through that hole there, but no luck.

you have to take out the driver side axle. then it will drop right out. Only other way is to take the casing of the alternator apart where it is, then you can pull it out piece by piece through the top.


edit: I have also heard of people disconnecting the bracket that holds the intermediate shaft up and then letting that and the inside end of the axle flop, and then squeezing the alternator out through there, but I hear its a bitch and it barely fits.
