94 Silhouette 3.1 accelerates

In the past week when I turn on my 94 Silhouette 3.1 to warm it up it runs a little bit louder than usual. (kind of like if you had your foot lightly pressed on the gas) Tonight when I went to the gas station I was going 20 mph and took my foot off the gas to coast. The van continued to slowly gain speed (about 1 mph per 2-3 seconds). When I reached the gas station I put it in park and then the engine started revving pretty loudly. Could it be that I need to replace the accelerator cable?

A fast idle can be caused by several things, such as a sticking throttle body, or a vacuum leak.

Try inspecting or getting someone to look for vacuum leaks, either in a vacuum line that has come off or is leaking, or leaking intake manifold gaskets.

Debris or a foreign object might have gotten the throttle body to stick, or the acceleraotr cable might be bad, but this is relatively unlikely, imo.

Finally,the idle air control valve might require repair.
