Ok, I am new here and I am not a mechanic at all nor do I claim to know much about cars.

Anyway, I have a 1995 Accent and I wanted to replace the cig lighter as it never works and I keep blowing fuses. I have read enough on this site about how a wire may be cut or too many wires are hooked up on the same circuit etc...

My question is can anyone give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost for the labor to have this fixed? I called the local Hyundai dealership and they can get me a new cig lighter recepticle for $35 and the local R&S Strauss will do the labor for $80. Are these prices reasonable? I tried to change the recepticle myself but the oe I had bought a year ago didn't fit properly so I scratched that plan. I would rather just pay to have someone do it right. Everyone I talked too says its easy to replace but I am not good with electricity and cars. Anyone in the Northern Part of NJ know how to do this, I will pay????? just no more than $50 + parts. E-mail at [email protected]

If you're paying $80 labor at Strauss, you might as well bring it to Hyundai as labor is about same there. I don't think it will take an hour for a tech to swap out a lighter. If you have any future problems, Hyundai has to do something. I bought tires from Strauss. They said that they'd do rotation for free for the life of the tires. Yeh Right!!! When I asked them to do it, this schmuck had the nerve to tell me I needed new tires. My tires were 6 months old and bought from the jerk himself. I have used Freehold (I know that's South) Hyundai service department. They were decent. Steer clear of Brad Benson. He may be able to catch a football but the only thing he's passing these days is lousy service and HIGH (did I say HIGH) pressure sales personnel. They need it because their service stinks and though they are not outright crooks like other places I've been too in NY, they ain't doing you any solids. I used to deal with a guy at Freehold who was a pretty decent rep. They also went the extra mile unlike many service departments. When they fixed a problem it stayed fixed. all the best. Freddy. :nono:
