stubborn pipe nuts

im not sure if thats what theyre actually called, but its where a pipe goes into an outlet and gets fastened by a nut which is attached to the pipe. the nut on the egr pipe from my exhaust manifold is rusted and stripped (it looks like the previous owner tried to work on it and failed.) any ideas how i can get that off without damaging the egr pipe?
