I'm posting this because I think this guy is complete bull. but he says he is gonna have a 1.8 turbo running 15lbs of boost making over 400 horses all for $7k. is this even believable? just wondering

If hes an experianced and qualified machanic and he does all the work himself then its very believable.
If hes some kid from your school who simply thinks hes hot shit then its total crap.
The degree of believablity verys depending on how close to each of these ideals your mate is.
But I do believe its quite possible to find the parts required to make the hp for under 7g.
The problem comes with haveing the knowledge and equipment nessacry to make those parts work.

that is the real issue though he isn't the one that is doing the work. he blew his head gasket and ripped out a couple of head studs before he spent a ton of money too so I'm just wondering how much bull he is talking cause I want to beat him and wanna know what I need to do that.

15lbs of boost on a integ, that's just plain silly, most people who knows how to drive don't even boost their turbo honda engine over 9psi. Well, I personally think it's impossible to push that much HP out of a honda engine even with turbo spending only 7g. This one dude was running 465HP b18c5 turbo charge 97 HB and spend over 30g to make it that powerful.

FLAT4 never mentioned it was a teg engine. what im thinking is he wants to build a 400hp from a 1.8L turbo? sounds like the 4G63/4G93 (?) mitsu block to me. like moppie said, its possible to have 400hp for around 7grand

there a guy in northern VA running 25PSI all the time on the street never goes to the track on top of that the car looks fully stock yellow type R
450WHP close to 500 at the flywheel
as far as your friend Im guessing hes just reading stuff off the internet and figures I bet I can do that
when hes done send him my way I will run him =)

pick up this months HCI mag, they are buliding a 500hp teg motor.
but i have seen a 4000HP drag integra, it was a 1.8l as well. just a lil more expensive to build up tho then $7K, but it can be done.

I do believe it is possible to make a car have 400 horse for 7 grand but I don't think it is possible to put that much horse to the ground. You are going to need stronger axles also stronger clutch and tranny. 400 horse is a lot for a teg and that is not going to be a very good daily driver.

There are actually 2 cars that live by me that are pushing over 400 @ the wheels. One is a boosted Del Sol and the other is a boosted Type R....they drive them daily and havent had any problems so i dont think the hp matters.

you can have 600+ Wheel HP in a civic/teg and wont break any axles the guy with the 450WHP integra has never broke any I know of
but keep in mind if your running on the street you will have street tires meaning the only thing you will break is your wallet when you buy new tires
you only break things when your tires hook up then your axles and trans take up the power and SNAP goes the axles
also if some ones spending 7K+ on there engine "Im going to have around 9-10K at the end of the summer" in mine then I sure as hell hope they would buy the upgraded axles.... run about 1000 bucks a set

well joyride, i'm assuming he's talking about an integ since he post this in a honda forum and he mention 1.8L. But you're right about any stock turbo engine, it can push 400WHP easily using only 7G. the nissan sr20det push 400WHP and all you need to spend is 5G. So at 7G you can hit 500+HP pretty easy if it isn't a honda engine.

Are you talking about Norris when you said the "guy in N. VA" with the 450hp Integra"? I don't know if his is yellow, but he has two of them. One completely NA running mid-11s all day, and another one, turbocharged busting 10 second passes consistently.

Oh, ok. Well that's definately not it then. That one is impressive too, though.

uhh.....if you're talking about the one in turbo magazine and shit.....the top fuel one......it definately was NOT a 1.8 liter......it was a 4 cylinder w/ like, 5.7 liters. HUGE ass cylinders......4000 hp is pretty damn difficult for a 1.8 liter.....

it was a 4.8 liter inline-4. none of the engine parts where from honda/acura.
it is very possible to get 400whp for 7g's.
1. custom turbo
2. forged pistons/rods
3. blockguard
4. standalone engine management system
5. fuel/ignition upgrades
6. lots of time on the dyno.
st00pid over on sho.com ran 24 psi of boost on his B18C1 long time ago all day everyday. he spent 9g's and that was including the B18C1. anything is possible, even 20psi on stock LS engines.

If you read the article "Kings of the Quarter-Mile" in the June 2000 edition of Road & Track magazine, you will find that they feature a Honda CRX drag car that makes 720 horspower from a 1.8 liter integra engine (B18C) that is running 26 psi of boost using a TO4 turbo. The car runs a [email protected] and cost around $25,000 to build. But what is more interesting, and contradictory to the above quote, is that they put all this horsepower to the ground through a 1991 STOCK Integra transaxle. I'm not trying to slam you in any way, or say that this setup will last very long, I'm just pointing out that it can and has been done--and it seems to work pretty well:D It's a pretty interesting article, you guys should check it out. There are lots of neat rides in there--stock and modified.

Everyone that runs hondas runs stock axles and trans
well up to a few months ago
reason being NO one made after market racing axles or trans stuff a few months ago a company started putting out race axles but before then you had one option... Stock
btw most honda drag cars snap a axle or two every few races
I can't rememeber who makes the new stroger aftermarket axles but I do remember them costing around 1000 bucks for a set

i have that magazine also. the car and plus all the mods were only $25,000. thats pretty damn good. stock axles won't break all the time. st00pid that i mentioned earlier ran 10's all day and rarely breaks an axle. he runs on stock GSR axle. what's best is that the car is still a unibody car (both Ed Bergenholtz CRX and st00pid's Hatchback) unlike other cars that have tube chassis.

Don't think you were around back in the day, but St00pid used to be a member at purehonda.com too. He "stars" in an almost legendary street racing video as far as imports go. Anyone remember seeing or hearing about the video where the Civic hatch smokes the Dodge Viper?? Well yea, that was him driving the civic...HIS civic. Tons of power, tons of money. However, I don't think he drove around everyday with the boost turned up to 24 lbs. I may be mistaken but that sounds terribly wrong...It'd be nearly impossible to keep a clutch or tires on the thing if he did. And also...20 lbs on the stock internals of an LS??? How is this possible again???

don't worry, i was back on ph long time ago also. anyways, st00pid ran 20psi on the stock LS block with the aid of hondata engine management system, upgraded fuel injectors and pump, blockguard, and other little stuff. 20psi on stock block is very possible. low compression + good tuning= high boost.
