i have a 98 cavalier that likes to stall out of the blue. it seems to happen when the car warms up. it does not only stall when i am at idle or coming to a stop it also stalls while it is being driven the car will just instantly shut off like the key was turned off.it does have a code on that was something like emisions which this code has been on and causing no problems for 2 months, the autozone guy said the gas cap might not be tight but that was not it. so he said maybe it is a vacume leak i dont know if a vacume leak can just make a car just die.but it seems like after the car has stalled it will just crank and not start but if i let it sit for a few minutes it will run perfect again for a few minutes. please let me know if any of u have heard of this before. thanks

wow your autozone needs to hire new, more knowledgeable employees... ive NEVER heard of a gas cap being off causing a car to stall.. unless someone put sugar in it lol but anyways, you said that the code had something to do with emissions... a far out there idea but maybe its an O2 sensor... or your cat may have an obstruction in it or it could be plugged try some of those easy checks first

My 93 started stalling all the time, while idle and while driving... it would kinda stutter and stuff before it stalled, then loose powe rand stall... it turned out to be the two ignition control modules i think they are also the coil packs.
