altima se-r vs srt4

so this guy got his srt4 the same time i got my car and its both our first stick car.. i met him at his work when he got off. i got there and popped my hood and waited 5 mins til he locked up. he started his car and let it warm up.. we talked then i told him to wait for there to be no northbound traffic because i saw a few cops go by.. so we leave.. i just got my windows tinted so i couldnt have them down to tell him to go. so i hear him ready to go and he guns it. i wasnt ready so i flashed my highs.. after a bunch of me punching it and him doin nothin and him punchin it out of no where.. we wait for the road to straighten up and everything was clear, this was the perfect moment. his engine was revvin high so he already was in the gear. i didnt wanna honk.. he shoulda honked it off. so i put the clutch in and rev match it and slam it into 2nd and i hear him take off too.. i easily put a car on him.. and quickly shift to 3rd and gain a half car.. put it into 4th, take it to 100 and shut down.. he didnt gain one inch.

i called him and asked what happened. he said he was in 3rd. i believe it i guess, i asked if he was gaining and he said no. i said maybe we might get another chance..

so i get next to him and beep and do another pull from 2nd gear and it was such a hard pull to.. he didnt react. then when i wasnt payin attention he did the same to me.. man what a fast car.. it sounded beautiful, i loved it..

he told me he raced a g35 last night, an automatic brand new. and he was even with it till 100 and he took it up to 130, i said bro there is no need for that.after 100 he put a few cars on it..

anyways we might run again tomorrow.. hopefully from a launch or something.. it just sucks cuz i get so paranoid.. o well.. ill let u all kno what happens.

Ummmm my bet is that you are gonna get smoked, unless he can't drive at all. SRT-4's are quick little boogers, couldn't hurt to try tho

the altima SE-R is no joke. its neck to neck with a 350Z from a roll so it should be a close race. the SRT4 should beat the SER by like 1-2 cars tops.

Yeah sounds to me that he cant drive.......cause he should be able to beat you by a good 2-3 cars but good kill none the less......when roll racing try honking.....looks like you guys aren't punching it at the same time......

yeah but the SRT-4 pulls on a 350Z from a roll anyway so the Altima will still get manhandled.

An I dont see whats soo great about the Altima SE-R. its the same crap as the Maxima 3.5. For the money I rather get a Z.

well I think its kind of heavy.....but thats cause I had a first gen before that.....yeah compared to the z and the altima it is pretty light though...

well for the money the altima SE-R is not a good deal, but damn that car is gorgious. it looks infinitly better then the max ( not to mention much faster ) and the 350z doesn't have 4 doors. so if you have to stick to nissan, the altima se-r is the best looking 4 door with a great interior.

however if you go into infinities realm, then the G35 4 door is the better choice but the G35 sedan is not that good looking.

well me and the guy talked yesterday and he was definitly in 3rd and said he didnt kno if u can drop to 2nd at 45 and i said hell yea u woulda ripped so hard. but like i said he had his in 3rd and i had mine in 2nd and i quickly pulled and he never gained back any ground.

i love the srt4 and my car.. for the money i wouldnt get a G or Z, i would get an sti.

looks like the srt4 guy got the turbo xs bov installed. good for 25 psi. now hes gettin a mbc. i heard this isnt the way to go on the srt4. i told him to get a stg 1 pcm, dp,intake w/ block off plate, agp wga, mmi's. i thnk this might be better. any suggestions?

well lucky for your friend that SRT4's have a blow thru maf setup, so running a blow off valve thats vented off to atmosphere wouldn't effect the way the car runs. so perfect for the ricer mods =)

For starters he should get s1 pcm, full 3'' turbo back exhaust, agp wga, map clamp, mmis, and a good set of tires.......should be around 300hp with just those bolt ons......

I was just comparing it to my car, Foxbody mustang. It's also a 4 door so obviously that will add a little weight. What's surprising to me is that its lighter than the 350Z AND its got 4 doors.

stg2 pcm good for this set up? if he wanted 20 lbs?

stage 1 will work fine......20psi is excessive...even for a spike.......unless big turbo he wont hold 20psi..
but with the agp wga he should spike 17-19psi and hold around 15-16 sounds about right.....but with the agp he is going to get alot of PTB....and thats not good

PTB = part throttle boost.......meaning if he barely gives it gas its going to boost real high......and your wondering why that would be bad......very sensitve pedal equals poor drivability........it leans out your af/r and causes your egt's to be very high.....not only that but with that wga its either 30% throttle or 100% anything else would be the same..........

will the stg 1 pcm take care of it? or will he need something else? what do u suggest?

the stage pcms wont take care the PTB that after market wga will give but they will eliminate (cels) check engine light.......you will get those when modding your car and if your the kind of person like me that cant stand the check engine light coming on then I suggest getting a staged pcm.......and if he wants a wga that offers performance but wont sacrafice drivability then I also suggest him getting a stage 2 wga.......

today we ran again. it was during rush hour.. so we went up to the highway and past all the cars ( we didnt plan to race it was just kinda random) we got to a nice open spot and we were doin the speed limit.. 60 and i put it in 3rd and honked 3 times and we hit it.. i jumped 3/4 of a car and just stayed like that. we shut down at 110. i glanced back twice and if anything he might have been inching but barely..

i called him and asked what happened. he said he only heard me honk 2 times and i got a slight jump.. so i asked him what he thought. and he said that we are even from a roll. next time were goin from a dig.. i cant wait... we just got to go somewhere safe and where no cops are.

ive been in the car with him and he shifts pretty quick.. and i told him to shift at 5.5 grand and he did. this race we only shifted once. 3 to 4. so there wasnt much driver skill involved. i guess i might have got a slight jump bc he said he only heard 2 honks. and from what he saw we are dead even? i dunno the only way to find out is to race from a dig..then theres no excuses.

I dont know dude........if you can beat him on a roll then you probably will beat him from the dig......are cars strongest points are on rolls......we get too much wheel spin and wheel hop to be any good on digs........FWD and traction owns us........but when you guys go again watch out for his third gear its puller............

ive been missin gears today like crazy! wtf i missed 2nd twice and 3rd once.. i guess i tried to fast.. but it felt like it was lockin me out.. and when i should have had it in i let the clutch out.and it kinda grinded.. i need to try and slow down..any suggestions?

just make sure your in gear before the clutch release...........

race #3 Altima SE-R vs SRT-4

well today i called him to see what was goin on and he told me to stop by his house.so when i got there we took a ride in his car cuz he wanted to find a race.. no one wanted to run, but i got to feel the power and it does feel faster than my car. so he had to go to work so he dropped me back off to get my car and i was gonna go meet up with some friends that happened to be in the same direction as where brandon was goin. he got into traffic first then i had to wait about 15 secs.. just when i didnt think i was gonna see him again(and i wasnt planning on racing) he was first at a red light with cars behind him and no one beside him.. so i was like hell yea first dig race.. so im comign up and im slowing down in 2nd gear 4 car lenghts behind him when the light turns green.. im doin about 20 mph and he must be goin about 5 and im still a 2 cars behind him and he guns it and so do i( in 2nd gear) he gets wheel hop and i pass him but he catches me ( i held him off good for 2nd gear) i stop his pull at about 40 mph and we are even then i shift into 3rd and it seems like i pulled a little bit, maybe a bumper.. then we quickly slow down bc of traffic.

you guys should try switching cars and race.....

he cant launch it very well, but his shifting seems to be as good as mine. if we both take off at the same time exactly and he does everything correctly he should pull slighly on me. but yea thats a good idea i might switch cars to see if i can pull on him.
