Hey. I've got a 2002 Mazda Protege 5 2.0L DOHC engine startup noise.
The noise is heard most of the time on "cold" startups. It seems to be comming from the bottom end of the engine. Is this possibly rod bearings of some sort, or is this just a nomal mazda sound?
Thanx.

if your car is still under warranty, you can get the updated pcm calibration and vacuum delay valve for the variable intake shutter valve. if its not under warranty and you dont want to spend the money to get the above work done then you can just live with it, its not hurting anything.
there is a recall for the variable intake shutter valve screws loosening... but that is ONLY on 2003 models
