Suggestions?

I've got a 92 Prelude Si (sadly, automatic, but nonetheless a sweet car). I don't know a great deal about cars, but what came with the car when I bought it was a few plus things. Kaminari bodykit, and konig monsoon racing wheels. I'm thinking buying an AEM cool air intake system, and also a strut bar, maybe even a bodykit but I worry about speedbumps, will that be a real problem? I've added blue neons on the bottom (looks sweet with the fresco blue pearl car color), but I've heard that the cops around here (Washington) will give you a ticket for them. But supposedly there's no RCW (?) code and if you take it to court the ticket will be thrown out. Like I said, I don't know a lot about cars but I really want to learn now. I've got a friend who's a mechanic, but nearly always busy.. but I can get hooked up for installing and learning at the same time.
Anyway... to the topic, what would everyone suggest that I do for upgrades within a range of $1000-$1500 to spend out? I'd like to soup it up a little, get more out of it. I don't plan on rodding the car but I do sometimes race on the interstate and have dusted a couple people just in the week I've had it. I got up to roughly 125 w/o stressing as my highest speed on it so far. :D :D
Suggestions would be great, and I'll post pics soon to show what I've got.

has it been lowered? that'd be good to spend that money on. tweak up the suspension. and you should have leftover you can put towards an exhaust, perhaps even enough for an exhaust too. keep us posted.

I didn't mention it but it has been lowered. Before I bought it I was allowed a demo to take it out to a mechanic to check it out, and the suspension is good. I have dual exhaust on it, but not sure what kind.

Question really bugging me right now is about bodykits. Everyone else who has their car lowered, and has a good bodykit what about speedbumps? Can't always make your way around them. Right now I have to take it real slow as is, since a few days ago I just barely scraped the bottom coming over one. Maybe if I got bigger tires, and also get new wheels this wouldn't be much of a problem? The monsoons on there now are 16" x 7".

yes yes my friend, the lude is a nice ride. i've had mine for four years and will never get rid of her.
how low is it right now? i know i was gonna lower mine but i think its low enough already, especially since i'm getting a kit real soon. if you put a kit on their you'll definetly scrap....

Right now it is 5 inches from the ground. I really like the lude, and I think I am going to keep it. Just invest in a new engine later down the line. Too bad I can't get a custom kit job, maybe have a nice veilside kit or erebuni shogun put on, but a little bit higher than norm. Think if I move to 18" and also get a kit I'll be good?

Correction, I just went out with a ruler.. it's just above 4" from the ground.

You should keep in mind that for example 18" wheels will slow you down a bit because of the bigger wheel diameter and because most of them are a lot heavier compared to the stock 16" wheels .

my 18's are very light weight for me.
i'm going pretty much for looks right now since the h23 is still in prettty good condition. i plan on swapping a h22 with a lightened flywheel and a type s cams. i would go with the 18's man. very nice ride though its not the smoothest ride but its nothing you can't get used to.

i'm confused:confused: , when you bought it, there was kit on it or not?? or you just gonna put another kit on it?:alien2:

When I bought it there was, er.. is a kit on it. I am just thinking about a different kit, the erebuni shogun kits are what I'm looking at mostly right now.
