HeliCoil kit

Has anyone here used a HeliCoil kit to repair a striped spark plug thread in the head of a 3.1?????? I have the kit here but have been putting it off to get it done because I was told that I should take the head off to repair the striped treads in the spark plug port but then I had two other people tell me that I didn't have to go through taking the head off. Now is any of this true?????

Why do you think they made a kit?
Answer =
So you do not have to take off the head to fix it.
Read the instructions and Us a little care and try to clean the shavings out of cylinder

Well I thank you for your answer on my question there MT but the thing is though I did read the instructions and they don't tell you much of anything other than how to install it and even the instructions on that don't say much and thats one reason I posted my question.
