can i beat a maxima

sorry i know you guys hate bench racing but i think i can beat him. i have 1g dsm with intake and mbc at 15psi. the guy in the maxima(2004) it has 265hp at the flywheel and it weighs 3500 pounds say hes car would kill mine. because mines a four banger with 190hp stock and its a 92. tell me what you guys think.

If you have a mbc I take it you have the turbo model........if hes stock I think it will be close but race him and find out......the only real way...

I'm going to say that you both bog your launches being gimps, ruining the trannies. You then have to call your mom and tell her you were street racing and need a ride home in the family mini van.

My bet is on the maxima, race and tell us the results though. Stock his car would do the quartermile almost a second faster than your car. Also 75 HP is a big difference, that difference in power is more than some cars had 25 years ago.

I think that you'd win. You probably weigh 500 pounds less, and at 15 psi, you're probably pushing close to 250 hp at the crank.

3.5 maxima's are beastly on the top end. if both cars were stock i'd say he'd probably win, i had a buddy with a 92 laser turbo fwd and i'd hang neck and neck with him in my 95 maxima. seeing as how the laser makes like 11-12 psi stock i don't think 15 psi is gonna get you enough power to overcome a 75 hp advantage. but then again you're a lot lighter than he is. it's too hard to tell, that's why these types of threads are frowned upon.

if stock you are pushing 11 psi and you bump it up to 15 psi that is good for at least 30-40 hp, plus your intake another 5 and you're lighter

i will say that if you both race from a dig you will take the jump and he will slowly inch away from you in the top end

When I used to run my turbo ford they said that each pound of boost was worth 6-8whp so 4 psi over stock is about 25 more to the ground.... roughly... that mught be 4/10's in your car, plus the intake may be good for another 1/10... You have a 5 speed, so if you can drive good thats an advantage but if the car is about a second faster than your stock for stock I'm pretty sure he'll get you. Probabaly by about 2 or 3 cars.....

We where gonna race today buts its raining. Car and driver said that his car stock runs a 1/4 mile at 14.9 at 96mph(6 speed). on a maxima website they say there only gettting 220whp with CAI,y-pipe,full exaust, and pulleys. when my car was new it ran a 14.5 or so. 115,000 miles later im guess stock it would run 15.2-15.4?
me weighing 150lbs and him weighing 230-250lbs that would give me another 100lbs difference plus my interior is striped out from backseats back.

p.s. my stock boost peaks at 10psi

I have never seen a new 92 Laser claim a 14.5, I have always heard mid to low 15s. Also I always heard mid to upper 14s for the 6th gen 6 speeds.

The 14.5 time was probabaly for the talon TSI, those cars were a lot faster and they are the same platform of our car so they could have just lumped them all together.

I never heard of a stock TSI hitting 14.5 though either.

HAHAHAHA your kidding me right talon eclipse and laser have the same 4g63 engine and 14b turbo 440cc injectors same 5sp tranny same awd same everything. but they had different bumpers and tail lights. one is not better than the other. the laser is the one that didnt come with the most opition so its actually the lightest of the 3. but other than that there the same car. which means they would put down the same numbers. 14.5 is wut it ran brand new in 1992. im not sayin i could go to the track right now and run a 14.5 prolly more like a 14.9 or 15 flat with my mods. and the maxima is auto not 6 speed. soory for the confushion
