Door lock bypass

When I go to install a remote car starter/alarm system in my 1998 Jimmy do I need a Universal GM Passkey3 Bypass Kit? Also I have read that there is a small chip in the ignition key called a transponder. When the key is inserted into the ignition switch it sends a code to the vehicles computer through a receiver coil mounted to the barrel. Once the computer has identified it as a valid key, it enables the starter and fuel management systems. :confused:

This vehicle has a PASSLOCKII system. This kit will take care of this bypass, but there is no kit available for the door locks in this vehicle. You can order the bypass kit from 12voltshop.com
