so, i havent owned a ford or mazda before
im looking into a used escape/tribute
im not sure what all they share, drivetrain, interior?
and how about reliability? ive been driving a GM car for the last few years, and i hate it, i hate everything about it apart from gas mileage.
ive usually driven nissan or toyota and have been very happy with them
I like the escape/tribute, and the way it looks, it has a descent amount of power, and gets reasonably good mileage for an SUV. I can also pick up an 01-03 at a good price, so thats why im looking.
Im particularly interested in the V6 models, and how easy they are to maintain. i like to do most of my own work if i can so i want something easy to work with
thanks guys

thanks guysI would get the newest you can. Make sure all recalls have been done. I have an 04 that I love, but the older ones had some problems. Go to www.escape-central.com. It's a good forum.

My 02' has the V6. It has 46,000 miles and just minor problems. It has had a couple of recalls that I've taken it in for, but the problems they were related to didn't surface for me before it went it. Let's see, what else. The stupid brake reseivor cap is a fault design and has to be changed. Left brake light bulb burned out. It is finally ready for it's first brake job. The tires are starting to make some noise like the big mudders did on my old jeep. I'll get some new ones this spring. Other than that, it has been great. Several 1,000 mile camping trips pulling a large pop-up camper. From northern Indiana we have done trips to Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Upper Michigan, South Dakota and Virginia. I'd like to keep it for a million miles.
