i own an 89 honda crx si and i recently put an AEM cold air intake on it...the car ran fine before i did this but now w the intake on it intermittently stalls, bucks, and dies. My first instinct was the PGM-FI main relay but i changed that and the problem still persists. someone please help if this has happened to you or you know what it is!
Problem Found: I found the problem yesterday: the ecm ground wire that mounts to the thermostat housing was lose and intermittently loosing connection and shutting down the computer. Thank you all for your replies and suggestions.

any codes when it dies? check fuel pressure? Does it have spark when its giving your trouble? Tested the coil?

it through a 20 flash code for an electric load detector circuit, i checked all of the connections to the sensor in the fuse box then i pulled the hazard fuse to clear the code. the car is still acting up but it wont throw that code again. It intermittently bucks and the the tachometer bottoms out almost like the car is turning off, but then out of nowhere it will shoot back up until it does it again...sometimes the tach bottoms and the car completely dies, but then i can start it rite back up or if im moving just pop the clutch and it starts rite back up. i ran the test supplied by ALLDATA for the code 20 and the sensor checks out which directs me toward a problem in the ECM, but im hoping for the best. But i did put the stock intake back on and it still did it which rules out the cold air which i figured it wasnt anyway.
Thank you for your reply and please let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions.

yeah i dont think the intake caused it at all, just that the problem happened the same time as the install. My crx did the tach thing when my coil was going bad, and i've heard of others having the same problem, so i would focus on that before looking at the ecu.

might be your coil or ignitor. But i seen something like that due to a vaccume leak, sound like it idle hunting. Cant tell with out more info.

No it isnt idle hunting, it just bottoms out to zero and the engine stops running...but sometimes it will come rite back up and keep running and sometimes it will completely shut off but the it starts rite back up when i crank it. It threw a flashcode 20 for an electric load detector circuit, i cleared the code and couldnt get it to come back until today, it is flashin the same code. The check engine light doesnt stay on it just turns on and then off or goes away when i restart the car.
