So since christmas is over and i got a decent amount of cash to spend i decided to use it on my car audio. I am leaning towards a new HU since the one I have in the now is stock. I was wondering if a HU or speakers would be better to go with first. Also with the HU (if thats the better choice right now) I am looking for around 500 maybe a little more if it is worth the money. I saw the 7" DVD players and shit but since they are like 1000 i didnt think they would be worth the money. What would be the best headunit right now in my car? FYI i already have 2 12 kicker comp and a kicker amp for the subs that are in the car.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

i'd go with pioneer prenuer DEG-P960mp it about $430
and you could probably get a set of speakers to make it around $500

i wouldnt worry about the head units with al lthe fancy fetures you dont need...but thats just me. what i think is funny is that a head unit with a 7 band EQ built in i $150 more than a head unit w/o and you can get an decent 21 band eq for the $150 you just wasted.
id get a head unit for $300 or so and a decent componet set for $200 or so. Check out Ascendant Audio. They are soon to start taking preoderes on their componet set for $199. thats $100 off the price they are going to be after the first shipment is out.
If i had $200 right now i'd be selling my RE's and getting a set.

Anyway. yo ucan get a great mid level Alpine for $300. Sony makes one head unit i would actually buy that is pretty nice i think itsl ike $250. that would put you a good way into an amp for your componet set.

After you get a head unit and componet set and componet amp, we'll talk about a sub upgrade. Too bad you cant drop the money for a sub to owith REaudio having the group buy.

Here are some web sites to check out.

AscendatAudio.com

REaudio.com

Soundillusions.net (Carstereos.org) => Forum => Offical REaudio Forum => Official RE Audio Group Buy Info

Onlinecarstereo.com

Ikesound.com

(the later two are to check out head units and amps)

EDIT:
The Sony CDX-F7715X is the one i was talking about. it MSRP's for 289, usually sells for around 250, and Onlinecarstereo.com has it for $175 shipped.

So how would i hook the component set up? In the car I have a tweetwers, 4x6's and 6x9's. I looked at the Ascenadant Audio component set and it had 6.5's.... where could i put those and what not?

So I have another question (sorry about all the questions am i a noob). Here's the layout.... tweeters by the mirrors in the doors.... 4x6's in the doors... and the 6x9's in the back by the back windshield. So actually I have 2 questions... Putting the 6.5's from the component set neer the back windshield will still sound the same? and also where the 69's are right now, the piece of plastic or whatever it is vibrates like no other when the music is on.... i tried dampening and that didnt help... do i have to reinforce it with something or what can i do that is relatively inexpensive?
