After a fun time watching 40yr old Virgin last night at a friends house (great movie), another friend calls me to say that he has his dad's accord with him, and he wants to race me. We head over to a nearby street set back into some office buildings, where no one goes at night. Figuring I would lose pretty handily, I line up for the launch.
1st Race- We go from a dig, with both cars spinning badly due to the dirt on the road, not the best spot picked out. He gets a half car ahead to 60, and then gets a car or a little more ahead to 80 when we shut down.
2nd Race- We go from 30, and while I am in 2nd gear at that speed, he forgets to manually select 1st gear, so when we go the car has to downshift from 4th. I immediately pull a car on him, and i keep the lead until 80, inching ahead slightly
3rd Race- We do the same thing, only this time he starts out in 1st gear. Similar results though, as I lead the whole way to 80
4th Race- We head over to a pool hall, and a nearby light has turned red. I see him switch to a right turn only lane, despite us having to go straight, so i know hes gonna try and get by me. He inches forward as the other light goes red, and when ours hits green we both hit it. With better traction, I edge him out to 60, when he then slows down and gets behind me.
All in all I was very pleased with the results. My car keeps up its surprises. Too bad I top the night off with the worst games of pool ever played in the history of mankind.

2001-2002
Actually those Accords are not that fast, about 8 sec to 60 and 16 sec 1/4 mile. Still BIG WIN for Saturn.

I've been wanting to race a tC for a while, but never had the opportunity. They arent very common here, and mostly its college age girls driving them, and I have yet to see one race.

Well from the speed we were going (30 mph) that put the Accord in 4th gear, not exactly a prime spot to be in. The first roll we did it took a sec for it to switch to 1st, and by that time i had already gotten a big jump. The second time he just kept it in 1st, and then put it in 2nd himself, which worked better. Not really idiotic....

You take it incorrectly, it was v6. The 3 liter 200hp one

is your car manual? that would help with the win. if he had the v6 with the manual tranny (it comes with a 6 speed i believe) he could probably have beaten you. good kill either way.

the 6 speed is for the newer accords. His version would have a 5 speed. I would have no chance at all against the newer ones, the times ive seen are mid 14 quarter miles and a 6 flat 0-60. His is a good second behind those numbers
Oh, and yeah I have a 5 speed

oh ok, my mom has a 97 accord v6, it's got some good power and it's still fun to drive but you mash the throttle and wait an eternity for the thing to put the power to the wheels. if only she had gotten it with a manual.

those model accord v6's were all autos. They didn't come out with the manual version until the current body style. the new v6 6speed accords are quick.
