Will starting in 2nd gear all the time kill my Montero?

If I keep "hold" on (on option on the A/T switch) my car will start in second gear and hold it there for a little longer. You are supposed to use this option when starting out on ice or snow. Well, will it hurt my transmission/Montero if I keep the "hold" option on all the time? So every time I start out cold it will start in second gear?

My Montero thinks the "hold" button is on all the time so if I don't have the button flipped to "hold" it will keep itself in 1st gear for longer than it should and then shift roughly to 2nd. I figured I would save some money by not having the problem fixed and just keeping it on "hold" all the time. But will this be more expensive in the long run?
