exhaust very hot

The exhaust on my 1994 rodeo (3.2l auto 4x4) seems to be very hot. If i drive through snow or a puddle i get a large cloud of steam. Could it be running to lean or too rich?
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or had seen this before, also the truck accelerates very slowly and occasionally backfires when it shifts, also idles rough.
I have in the last litttle while had to replace the head gasket and all six fuel injectors. i also have changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter. Fuel pressure seems to be good.

Can someone tell me if the o2 sensor or any other sensors could be causing this or if it could be something else like valve timing? I also have changed the ignition module under the coils and was wondering if it could be causing some problems or if weak spark ( ie bad coils?) could be causing this

Your exhaust should be hot, but not glowing red. The slow accelerating and backfiring thing means something is up. It could be a tired oxygen sensor, a bad MAF sensor or maybe a vacuum leak.

it was always my guess that if the engine back fired, it was a timing issue, but that was on older engines that i played around with.

the exhuast will always be hot, don't suck the pipe, it will burn...:smokin: :angryfire

thanks, i really wasnt planning on it but anyways, it seems to be way to hot cause like i said when its been driven a while if it goes through a puddle i get a huge cloud, i mean like encompasses the truck.
