door handles

Hello new to this forum have a 04 Ext cab Silverado...anyone ever change the outside door handles...got a flame set for X-mas and just wondering the easiest way to change these....thanks Pete

Pull the panel around the handle, pull the lock indicator, pull the 2 screw covers halfway up the edge of the door and remove the screws from the door panel, lift the panel and remove the wires clips to the window/lock controls. Pull the plastic back, and get a 10mm combo wrench and a 10mm socket with extensions. One of them you will be giving blood to the truck if you are not careful when you reach under the metal. Taking your time you should only take 2 hours and 3 beer...... or was that three hours and 4 beer...... Either way it is easy and simple. On the 04 the control panel in the door stays with the door, it DOES NOT come out like the 99-02.
