On a '83 Regal is the lug pattern 5-4.75 or 5-4.5?

seems to be a year change over or something where i cant find the right size.

Also what is the tallest and widest tire I can run on a stock '83 Regal?

Bolt pattern is 5-4.75... every RWD regal was 5-4.75.... only the Lesabre was 5-5... GM didn't use anything smaller. 5-4.5 is a Ford pattern (Rangers, Mustang, Etc.)

Size depends on which way you want more.. tall or wide. I had 295/50R15's on weld wheels once (no way they'd fit on stock)... on stock Ttype wheels, I had 275/60R15's with no problems... also had 235/75R15's for snow tires with no probs too.

The 275's were good for rain and dry traction.. but nothing beat the 235's for snow.

Well I wanted to do a narrow tire and wheel up front and a wider set out back. What would be some good sizes?

Im wanting to do chrome reverse's on some big white walls old school look.

A good narrow tire up front would probably be a 205/75R15... skinny (by comparison), and then whatever will fit out back... it all depends on the offset of the wheels you get.

Your best bet is to probably go to a tire store (Disc. tire, etc.) and have them try the wheels on with different tire sizes that have the white walls you want. If you tell them what you're looking for, they should be able to get you there (if it exists...lol).

Reverse wheels basically throws everything out the window, because it depends on how your car sits, and how sloppy the suspension is (cause you don't want them to rub).

I don't think you'll get the full benefit if you go "mail order" for the stuff.

Good luck.

You're going to have to check the load rating on the 185/70R15's to see if they can handle the weight of that car... 195/75r14's are the smallest tire offered on the V6 G bodies. I don't think a tire ment for a VW bug will handle the weight of the Regal.... but check and see.

And I don't think the 285/70R15's will fit (without some grinding).. I looked into them as well when running 4.10 rear gears, the 275/60r15's came real close to hitting the frame rails. With 10inch rims, you have to start worrying about the fender clearance too, and I think they'll smack it pretty good.

Personally.. I think the tall rear/ short skinny front combo looks silly(except for Drag strip only cars where they actually serve a purpose)... I liked the way mine looked with teh 215/65R15 BFG fronts, and the 275/60R15 BFG rears... still had a good size difference and I was able to maintain some cornering ability...LOL.

Good Luck...
