another fpr question

Recently posted a thread saying that my car sat for a while and now it wont start. Havent replaced the fuel pump yet because i want to rule out the fpr first. I go to check the fpr and pull the vacuum line to check for fuel and found nothing. I then detach it to see if fuel would spray out and it did. So it seems to be holding pressure but does this mean that it is good for sure or can it still be bad some how?

You proved it's not leaking, but it is possible that it's not regulating as designed. $45 FPR....I would just get one to go along with the new pump.

more like 68 dollars but in relation to all the other parts from this car 68 dollars is pretty cheap. I just dont understand how the hell the car can just break itself. I leave for two months and the car just doesnt start. Maybe the fpr just got gummed up from sitting too long?

you need to first determine how much fuel pressure you have.check with a fuel pressure gauge, normal is 41-47 PSI

Alright lets just say for a moment that i do have the right fuel pressure what then (which i am almost positive i do because there seems to be a good amount of pressure released when disconecting the fuel lines)? I have hard time believing that it can be some electrical problem because the car was not driven at all and wires dont usually just go bad exspecially when the car has been garaged. From my previous post i said that the engine will start up and then shut down but after this it wil l just crank. If you let it sit for a while (half an hour) then it will start up again and shut down. Something seems to be killing the fuel pump after startup. I know the oil pressure sensor acts as like an auxillary power for the fuel pump and so this could be cutting the power to it but what else could cause the fuel pump to shut down?

Because it's an American engineered piece of crap, just like mine.

i can tell you from experience.when my fuel pump was failing there was still 20-PSI,enough to blow fuel all over the place when disconnecting fuel lines or the fuel pressure regulator.BUT NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE TO START AND RUN THE CAR PROPERLY.a fuel pressure gauge will also tell you if the pressure is starting off normal (41-47) PSI, then quickly dropping off.you NEED to first identify you have a fuel problem and how much pressure your getting..VERY IMPORTANT
