Steering Wheel Lock

Does anyone know if you are able to lock the steering wheel on the 99- 05 Grand ams? I've tried turning the wheel when the car is off to lock the wheel, but it only goes so far, and i don't want to force it.

Hey grfnkl ! their isnt a lock on them, not like the older models. I'm not sure why they dont, but I hav turned mine quite a few turns with not key in the ignition, it just take muscles. :lol:

I think they used to use the wheel lock because one could steel the car if the wheel didnt lock and you put it in gear, Now its controled by electronics, yea...

Don't feel bad, the sister 'N" body Alero doesn't have locking steering wheel either. :dunno:

That's so the guy stealing it doesn't have to break the column and not be able to sell that part. Now they have another part to sell. What a bunch of hooie. I think that it comes down to the fact that they could not design a system that works because of the key location.
