ok my friend got a front mount intercooler and a new bov and is going to get a new turbo for his sr20 i was thinking i could probably get the side mount intercooler the stock bov and the t25 from him for cheap and run a small basic turbo setup for a LS...the question is will all the parts work for the LS? and what piping do i need for the side mount intercooler?

yes they will work, you will just need to fab up the piping, any shop can bend it to what you will need.

IMO, the t25 is worthless on an engine with such low compression. I understand you're probably looking for just a little boost to give you more pep, and you want a small turbo to be on the safer side; but it's still tiny as hell. Honestly it's probably not worth it, but it's your car.

so what turbo would you suggest? im looking for 200whp at the most but at least 170whp...im thinking about 8-10psi might do it

you can sell that T25 and get something a little more worth while like a T3 Super60.....there are lots of cheaper turbos that you could get that would work well on your LS.

o so your saying i could just get a better turbo for a better price? yea i know the t25 is really small but i still want a not too small but decent quick spooling turbo thats not too expensive...so what would be the best bang for my buck?

the only thing i see being useful to you is the SMIC...honestly i think you could use the turbo, but you wouldn't see any huge gains...

so even the bov wouldnt be any good use? i dont have to get the turbo i just wanted to take some cheap parts while i can and atleast wanted to get the SMIC and the bov the turbo is still an if though and ill probably just stick with getting another turbo thats around $300

the bov would be useful....i didn't think about that...

Now that you're buying parts, its going to hook you.....make sure you have the money to do this before you start getting into it. If you're planning to boost, i would honestly budget $1500 at least.....you're going to need a new clutch more than likely, fuel management, injectors, dp, dump, mani, IC piping....you can get all that for cheap, but just be on the safe side and have some leeway...

what kind of fuel management should i use? and i know im going to buy more and more after this so first i was thinking of walbro 255 fuel pump and what kind of injectors should i use? 370cc i thought should be ok so ill look and find a deal for those...downpipe i can get for cheap...i think its the mani thats going to be the most expensive so ill see which one i should get too...

you need to decide how much power you want to make and how much you want to spend......i'll be back on Tuesday and if you can answer that, i'll help you out.....my build using almost all new parts is going to cost $2500 w/ a clutch and Crome tuning....

ok i think ive changed my goal to around 200-215whp around there...i can spend $1500 or maybe even a little more

There are quite a few places you can pick up fairly cheap turbos online. Try some of these:
www.cheapturbo.com (http://www.cheapturbo.com)
http://www.turbochargers.com
http://www.westcoast-turbo.com

If you want an inexpensive manifold you could get a log style one. There are a lot of companies that sell them for pretty cheap ($200-250). And there are places that sell the DIY kits, that you'd just need to weld together. You can also buy pre-bent piping and straight piping from places like summit racing; to build your charge (IC) pipes.

we wouldn't recommend them if they were crap

They're a sponsor over at honda-tech, so they can't be too bad. Actually for most parts for a turbo kit, the honda-tech sponsor forum would be your best bet.

ok ill look into the T3s so do you guys think my goal is possible with this setup?

Schister66

so you want to make 215whp.....idk if you NEED a clutch, but i would think about getting one w/in like 6 months of boosting

West Coast has some good pricing, but if you search around HT for a while, you'll find some good deals..... SPoolin Performance (ProjectDC2) is a good guy to deal w/ and there is another guy B18C1CYA is another one, but i forget the name of the company he works for.....

http://www.rld-fab.com/ He's either local or fairly local to me. I know he ran at the local track (right down the street from my friend), and stopped over to talk one day; was told he's a really cool guy. Wish I would have been over that day to see that white teg of his.

would the SMIC be ok if i make that much power? and i really dont know which type of fuel management i should go with but ive been looking into uberdata since its fairly cheap so how much would it cost for me to get a tuner to tune it for me? and how much does it cost to get someone to fab up all the piping? i really havent asked people and i dont want someone to rip me off

Schister66

get Crome instead of Uber....its basically the same thing but i hear its easier to use....the SMIC would be ok if you're not going to make over 215whp w/ your LS, but honestly IC's are cheap....i paid $139 for mine after shipping. You also need to look into buying a WG, a mani, dp, dumptube, IC piping, injectors OBD1 ECU and conversion harness, and oil lines and that's all that came to me off the top of my head.....you need to start lookin on different sites if you want to get good deals...

www.honda-tech.com
www.homemadeturbo.com
www.turbod16.com

they all have pretty good classifieds sections.....

iVteC_PoWeR
12-28-2005, 09:43 AM
so using the internal WG wont be good enough for that kind of power? yea i go on HT pretty often and ill check out homemadeturbo and turbod16... so to my other question how much is all the labor for the custom piping and tuning?

Schister66
12-28-2005, 12:02 PM
i would go w/ an external....i hear they're more reliable on bigger stuff....but you're not looking for that much power so maybe an internal WG would be good for your goals....

the t3 turbos are kinda pricey because i really dont want to spend any more than $300 on a turbo and the cheapest turbos out there are t25s and 14bs...how is a 14b compared to a t25?

Schister66
12-31-2005, 11:13 PM
i can get you a brand new T3 for $300 shipped...let me know what size you want and i'll find one...
