Audi Quattro 90' Alternator Problem

friend of my has a 90' Audi Quattro Turbo an the alternator belt is slipping an the battery isnt charging enough according to the gauge on the dash, is this something thats easy to fix or would you have to take it to a shop an if so how much approx. it would cost to fix?
