I have a 96 Explorer V8 5.0L.

What is the diameter of the exhaust pipe? I was looking at an exhaust tip i wanted to put on, but i am getting conflicting reports of wether to buy the 2.25" or 2.5" size.

Also, is it normal for the vehicle to feel a bit "sluggish" when slowing. Seems like the truck shifts great, but when slowing, it is as if it doesnt like downshifting very much. It is nothing severe, just something i noticed and was curious about.

And finally, what are the benefits to overdrive vs having it off. Seems the truck turns O/D on each time you start up. Wasn't sure what effects it may have, or gas mileage benefits/disadvantages to either.

Read the owners manual.
It says no towing in OD.
The OD switch is so you can turn it off when not needed or when towing.
Also in some city driving in trafic if the OD is kicking in and out you can shut it off.
Normal highway driving or just normal driving turn it on and leave it.
OD gear saves on gas on the highway.
If the trans downshifts to low gear when you stop and take off it is normal.
The tail pipe size can be measured with a caliper tool.
