Just started to build the Fujimi Enthusiast model of the Porsche 356 Speedster.Got the main body sprayed in Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf and clear coated with Tamiya TS-13 Clear.I can't make my mind up on the interior colour though, not sure weather to paint it red, black or brown?
Anyway here's a photo of the body.

If anyone knows a good colour mix to represent the burgandy red leather please let me know, preferably in Tamiya acrylics.
Steve.

Ooo, great old classic Porsche. This is another of those kits I've been hoping to come across for years. I'll be watching this one. Body paint looks great!
If anyone knows a good colour mix to represent the burgandy red leather please let me know, preferably in Tamiya acrylics.
Post a pic or two of the color you're trying to match, and it'll be easier to offer suggestions....

Just found this pic on the Tamiya Website of the Boxster in silver with the red interior. If anyone has this kit could they have a look at the instructions and see what colour it suggests for the red seats. It looks like it would be a very good match for the 356 also.

The Boxster interior as represented by the kit/era would be a very orangy-red; I think they called the interior "Salsa", it's not a pure red like you would see on the 356. For a good red for a vintage 356 you could use either bright red or Italian red, and then tone it down w/dullcote or a flat or semigloss clear. I'm going to be building the same model this year, and I decided against the traditional silver/red scheme so mine won't look like yours  Not sure if I'll do a pastel color or ivory white at this point. It's a sweet kit, have fun building it.

Great start. Makes me want to pull mine out and start it. I saw one at a car show in Geneva Illinois this summer that was a dark burgundy with that same color red interior.

You certainly could use straight flat red. It would be close4 in appearence, but it would probably look 'red' instead of 'burgundy'. I'd also consider maybe XF-9 Hull Red lightened with some flat white- and a touch of purple, if it needs.

I did a bit of assembly work on the chassis tonight.I never realised that the kit had so many parts in it.The detail is very good although I think a lot of it is going to be hidden when it's complete. Here's a photo of the chassis so far,it needs painting in black which I will do tomorrow. There's still a lot of detail parts to add, pedals, gearstick etc.I think the interior will be well detailed when finished.

Oooooooohh!!
I love 356 Porsches!! :grinyes:
I built this one years ago and one thing I remember when it comes to the engine is this......
The instructions want you to place the engine in the chassis first, then put in the transaxle. I wouldn't do it this way as it will leave a gap between the two large enough to stuff a cat through!
Assemble the two as an entire unit, then glue them in the chassis, and you shouldn't have the gap problem.
Also, keep a close eye on the front axle placement as mine turned out to have a slightly rearward bias in relation to the front wheel stance in the wheelwells.
I picked up a new unsealed kit at a show for $25 at a show..............heaven knows when I'll build it..................this kit can be time consuming and it WILL require a lot of patience!:grinyes:

Awesome job on the paint there! :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb:
Definately red with the interior! It'll make it pop rather than the darker colors!
