so u saw my post about the engine swap or turbo or wutever - but then im thinking and im like hmmmm - maybe i should just stick with suspension for now? cuz like i totally want my car to be like a SMOOOOOOOOOTH ride.
i use my car for regular street use - i want it to be smooth as possible - can u guys suggest the BEST way to do this? and prices also - i want like maybe above average stuff. unless it turns out to be more than like 800. if its more than that then just ill stick with average but either way post it all maybe ill find it for cheap somewhere.
anyways i want company names as always - prices - and ur rating for handling. remember i use this car for regular street and freeway driving and right now its not the best on like bumpos and stuff - well its like any average 4th gen civic but i want it to be BETTERRR.

I would never recommend anyone lowers a honda, if you do only go 35mm max. The suspension design means as soon as you lower it, negative camber is created by the truck load. Even dropping it 35mm will have a surprising effect. I would say you'd end up with -2 1/2 degrees in the rear and -2 to -3 degrees in the front. If you do go ahead and lower suspension you best do shocks/dampers too, or you'll have the car bouncing all over the road. Adjustment kits for the suspension are available but can be very costly.
If the car is in good condition, i'd recommend you put new shocks/dampers in all round, and get a nice set of 16" alloys with some low profiles. Leave the springs as they are.

I've been lowering cars for years in my own business as suspension specialist. Cars can be lowered and still drive nicely, the important thing is good dampers. New springs with old shocks makes for a bumpy ride, low profiles will also give you the ability to feel every bump through your car. Everything is a compremise in order to achieve a smooth looker.
Try a set of KYB mono tube dampers and 16x7 rims with 205/45x16 directional tyres. A full 4 wheel alignment will be a must.

by smooth ride i didnt mean ricer smooth (smooth looker - i coudl give a rats ass how my car looks on the outside right now - its whats on the inside that counts) - i meant smooth for the people inside the car. like not bouncy or anything - and since i dont have a need for lowering my car I am not gonna waste my money for that. I just want to know what to change/add on to make it drive smooth.

Just do dampers, thats all. Good tyres that are well balanced and aligned will minimise any vibrations. Stick with factory rim size if cornering doesn't interest you either.
I guess where you love you may have straight roads for long distances, in my country our open highways are whinding, twisting roads through hills and native bush. So i apologise for not understanding exactly what your requirements are.
Good dampers and good tires is all you'll need for comfortable ride.

Keep it stock if you want a smooth ride, if your car has a lot of miles the struts could be shot resulting in a poor ride. From what I've seen in my Honda exp. factory springs last for a LONG TIME except when they break. This is a common problem with late 80's to early 90's Honda's. The best thing to do would be inspect the springs, if they are good throw a new set of Honda struts on it. If it were my car I would at least go with H&R OEM springs with KYB GR2 or Tokico HP struts. I know you don't want it lowered but I feel H&R is a better spring than stock. As far as prices go, check around the internet. www.google.com , www.tirerack.com , www.modacar.com , www.ebay.com etc.
Btw, dampers are struts.
Get rid of low profile tires if you have them, tire sidewalls play a huge role in the way a car rides. Often people find that out the hard way.

well i checked out my springs and the front ones look totally fine but the back ones well like. u know lets say that:
this is the top of the springs-> |/ / / / / /| <-and this is the bottom
right now the back ones look like this |/// / / /| (notice the first 3 coils)
they are like squished together as if liek they gave out or something. but then the rest of the spring is fine. its like that on both sides a little more on the driver sude but i dotn know if that is normal or wut. i dont really have a way of checking the struts - or maybe the springs are squished liek that because of bad struts???

The rears should be like that, closer coils at the top than the bottome since they are a progressive springs. If you don't seen any cracked coils I would just slap a new set of struts on.
