compressor noise?

i have a 95 sts about 30 seconds after you start it there is a noise that sounds like a air compressor is it a compressor and if so what is it for i dont think it has air shocks

It sure does, in the rear. What you are likely hearing is the compressor in the rear.

After all these years you're lucky it still is working!

what is it to. Shocks ? gas tank ?

It is called an Electronic Leveling Control (ELC) compressor. And it is for the air shocks in the back of the car. When the car senses a load in either the trunk, or the rear of the car, it adds air to the shocks to keep the ride height to within specs.
