how to turn of check engine light

have 1995 v-8, check engine has been on for a looong time. no codes, just passed emissions check, runs good. I am just tired of looking at that bright light! How can I turn it off, take the bulb out without having to take the das apart! Thanks

There have to be codes if the MIL is on. If you seriously get no codes out of it then there is a fault in the light circuit

true, but I just want to know how to shut the light off, I do not want to have to use black tape!!! lol

If you unhook the negative battery terminal for a minute or so it should lose the fault in memory thats causing the light to be on.

Drop the dash and pull the bulb. Problem solved!

I have the same problem with my airbag light. The computer will make an annoying beep sound if you take the light out (Since its essentially tricking the computer into thinking a bulb blew) So, black electrical tape will easily fix it.

v8 eh? which one? the 4.6L were bad about the EGR passages in the throttle body gettin clogged up with carbon.
