99 zr2 blazer

I have a '99 zr2 blazer. The fuel gauge reads full all the time. When the vehicle is off is the only time the gauge goes to E. I was wondering if a short in the lead from the tank would cause this or if I should be looking elsewhere.

My guess is it's the sending unit in the tank. They rarely last forever.

I had thought about the sending unit but was hoping for an easier solution. I hate to drop the tank. Well I am off next week so what better chores to have than work on a vehicle. Thanks for the quick answer.

There is a chance that someone else will know of some easier tests to narrow down your trucks problem. Just in case it is something else. Just watch this thread.

The fuel sending unit is located in the fuel tank and is an input to the VCM (computer)
It is a two wire sensor, You can check the operation by measuring the resistance of the sensor.
It should change as the float arm is moved
