I got my soundsystem

Well I got my soundsystem put in! Finally! Total bill: $2000

I got my eXcelon amp on clearance because it is last year's model, but the subs are new this year. Everything was done with monster cable, and a monster cap keeps the power in line. I will be dynamatting the trunk, doors, and possibly floor over the summer. God it sounds amazing. Check my signature for the setup.

Sounds sweet. Are your speakers amped up or just the subs?

No right now I only have the subs amped, but once I get the cash I'll drop a 4-channel on the speakers. They are already pretty loud, but the only problem with running them off the deck is the distortion.

Melt

Yeah, distortion can be a problem. For now I am going to buy a box and possibly get a 12 put in sometime next week (already have amp, got as payment for pulling stump out friends front yard with parents 4wd ford bronco) I will see how my system sounds then and once more money comes my way I will possibly add a 4ch. But clutch and a/c frion recharge take priority over the 4ch.

My Current Audio Setup
Aiwa X-217 45X4 Cd Reciever
Pioneer 6 1/2" 130W Speakers (front doors)
Alpine 6 1/2" 140W Speakers (rear deck)

Its a kicker comp 12". I got the box also. Went to the local flea market. It was $60 for the sub and $40 for the amp. Now all I gotta do is wire that shit up and my car is gonna have beat.

Was looking through old posts and figured I should post here again, I now have a custom box hooked up and lets just say my mom came out twice cause it was rattling the windows of the house!

hey MELT what brand , and wattage amp do you have??

Melt
09-04-2002, 11:29 PM
Its a denon, and as far as wattage I have no idea, got it as payment for pulling a stump out of a friends yard. The sub sounded like shit for a while until I built this custom box to kickers specifications and now my system sounds tight.

If you guys are interested, I have a brand new a/d/s P850.2 amp. 8 channel by 50 watts each channel, bridgeable with crossovers. Sealed in its original plastic wrap and box includes all hardware and manual. check out this link for more detailed info on the amp www.adst.com or http://www.adst.com/pages/p850.html
It cost over $1000 and I've seen one on ebay for $900, I'm willing to let it go for $500 (half the price). This is the only amp you'll ever buy, enough to power all satellites and subs.:flash:

i plan on adding 2 6x9 into the top deck with another amp. There is a neon lighting up the amp underneath the floor. We are going to tunnel that center wall and put a NOS bottle back there for shows.

Hey Turbo, what db do you hit with that? I know when I had my 2 12" JL Audio's in the back of mine, just with a Planet Audio 120 Watt amp, I hit 140.8 DB. Hatches are great for sound systems, too bad mine got stolen, and I'm planning on making it a street racer.

It's alright but the best part is that the bottom piece is wedge up agaisnt the strut tower and the top piece is wedgeed into the the side of the car it is almost like a strut tower bar. I've got less body roll now.
I'm taking it to a db drag on the 15. What do you think it will hit with 900 watts behind the two 12's?

Tony
09-05-2002, 11:18 AM
I'm gonna guess about 153-155 db. Once you get to 140db, its hard to get higher dbs. What competition is it? USAC, IASCA, or SLAP?

turbcivic
09-05-2002, 11:29 AM
It for a local show down in Longwood. I think it was IASAC. Damn that is really loud. I guess those noise pollution tickets and distrubing the peace tickets were neccsary.

Tony
09-05-2002, 11:36 AM
Alright, I IASCA should be a lot better than USAC, I've been to 2 USAC events and I didn't like how either was run. I'm suprised I never got any tickets for having mine too loud, only got two warnings, and you can hear me coming from a couple blocks away. I wish I could have got a db test done with the 300 Watt amp, cause I know it was louder.

turbocivic, that box looks like its about twice the size the speakers are supposed to have. did you figure your airspace right?

one more thing.. dont think i hate on stereos because i used to bump hardcore, but in my opinion, the 2g's you spent would've went better towards a bad ass motor or something. you can have a pretty fast 4th gen for 2 grand...just my opinion...

NM, i see now that the box ends and just the top extends to the sides of your car.. my bad

turbcivic

Very good, 2001 gsr seats fit. The speakers do have enough airspace and two g's in my box? 150 for the subs, 200 for the amp and the box and amp rack my friend and made for less then fifty dollars. I am working on an engine. D16z6 getting it ready for turbo. The paint i am working on, intgera ls white with carbon fiber hood and wing, hopefully.

and don't like how off center the amp is. We centered it to the tire well and the box to the car. Dumb mistake.

hey turbocivic how well do the integra seats fit?? did you have to modify anything?? also you should write up a HOW-To, and send it to ami!!

Melt

I have a chance to pick up two Rockford Fosgate HX2s in box with two 800watt bridged amps and all the wiring for $700 from my friend... They sound amazing I was dizzy for an hour after listening to them for a couple minutes last night. But I would rather have speed than sound and don't know if I want that extra weight in that car.
