Wire wheels

So I scored the Austin Healey 100-6 kit. That thing's gonna be an adventure...

However, one portion of the adventure I refuse to partake of is the plastic tire and wire wheel mesh adventure. So I need a suitable replacement for the kit parts - anything would be an improvement. Where do y'all get your wire wheels from (esp. you old Ferrari folks)? I'm going to need some that are 17" with tires that reach an outside diameter of 25" or so. Is that too much to ask (ie, do they exist, please)?

Try a search for Borrani on www.hlj.com don't know if they will work or not. Heard good things about Herb Deeks(?) wheels but I think they are out of production. You could also make your own, there was a good article in Finescale Modeler a few years ago.

The best looking Borrani's I know of are by Model Factory Hiro. Nice ones are also made by Technomodel and MG. Dont know how these would look on a Healy, though.

also alex kustov made something fine in his 250 california: those seem fantastic: a little less rays than the sakatsu stuff and maded from 7 parts (hiro have 12 parts!!!), but he doesn't write nothing abt the brand (or I not find) have a look in his italianhorses...
and.. raciresing had something good (acustion or sakatsu) but it's seem just expired right now (hoping account data>CC is safe, I bought something in past)

I am pretty sure that Alex K used either Detail Master, Technomodels or MG wheels on his 250 Calif.

The Renaissance wheels are pretty expensive but look pretty good in my 250TR kit's box (also I am a fan of Etienne's :) )

Ultimately though I haven't heard yet of any bad wire wheels, just about really good ones like MFH's

you could of course try and thread real scaled down wire wheels.
i seem to recall someone doing that for a jaguar?

Thanks folks, for the fast response, but I was out of town for a while so I couldn't respond. I ultimately went with a set of MFH rims from HLJ, and luckily they were in stock. Too bad they will take forever to get here, and will delay the build until after dad's birthday.
